Replace EV95 modules in RAV4 EV

By Nikolay Shishkov • July 06, 2018

Since the LEV50-8 modules used in Mitsubishi Miev are exactly the same dimensions it will make it mechanically very easy to replace the EV95 NiMH modules.

The challenge is the integration to the Toyota RAV4 EV.  Assuming this is solvable what would be the result and how the two packs compare with each other?

Below is a list of parameter, then before the change and then after.
Capacity: NiMH 26kWh > Li- 16kWh
Battery Pack Weight: 550kg > 182kg
Internal resistance: (not measured) > (not measured)

There is a place for modules from one more battery pack from Miev in the original box from the RAV4 if that proves to be necessary.

What would be the performance improvement in acceleration with weight savings of 368kg?
What would be the range?
